Prep Report: Baker girls bash FM 12-2

Sophomore pitcher Maddy Peres held Fort Myers to four hits, but gave up the first runs scored against the Bulldogs this season, as Ida Baker defeated Fort Myers 12-2 Monday night.
The first runs scored against the Bulldogs came off the bat of Kasey Mayer, who hit a two-run home run with two out in the sixth inning to produce the Green Wave runs.
Deniece Bent led the Bulldogs with three hits, including a double and a two-run home run. Louie Ross also had three hits, including a two-run home run, and a total of four RBI. Jessica Nuccio contributed a pair of hits.
Peres (6-0) struck out 13 batters in a complete-game effort.
The Bulldogs (6-0) play at District 4A-11 rival Mariner Tuesday night.

Cape Coral 11, Island Coast 1: Cape Coral lashed out with 11 base hits and scored at least two runs in each of four innings to rout Island Coast in five innings.
Brenna Harkins started on the mound for the Seahawks and allowed just two hits with two strikeouts. At the plate, she drove in two runs with a game-high four hits, including a double.
Kristi Maselter contributed three hits while Cassie Maselter added two hits, including a double.
The Seahawks (5-7) host Estero Tuesday night.

Basketball
SWFABC All-Star Games: A.J. Davis of Palmetto Ridge pumped in a game-high 23 points, including four three-pointers, to lead the White Stars to a 93-85 victory at Bishop Verot.
Barron Collier’s David Phillips added 15 points, Theo Speas of Fort Myers 13 points and Jernell Hughes of Immokalee added 12.
Shaun Manego of Baker contributed six points for the Dark Stars while Baker’s Christian Davis had four for the White Stars.
Mariner’s Sam Guerrier contributed 10 points for the Dark team and Justin Emmons scored five for the White team.
Billy Rees of Island Coast added three points for the Dark team, which was led by Kent Coyne of Community School of Naples with 14 points, Jamaris Brown of Lehigh added 13 and Bishop Verot’s Nate Howard had 11.
In the girls’ game, the North Stars posted a 73-67 victory.
