The East County Water Control District (ECWCD) is currently seeking applications from interested volunteers to serve on the five-member, 2011 Financial Advisory Committee (FAC). The FAC acts as a think tank and advisory board, helping the ECWCD Board of Commissioners (Board) to shape yearly budgets, financial policies and practices.

Ideal candidates will have professional or educational expertise in the financial, engineering, environmental, general business, government or related sectors.

The purpose of the committee is to advise and make recommendations to ECWCD and its Board on matters of policy and public interest related to the financial condition of the District. The committee will interact primarily with the ECWCD Comptroller and District Manager and will be called upon to periodically report its findings and recommendations to ECWCD staff and its board. Members perform self-directed projects outside of meeting times.

The committee will review ECWCD’s budget from May July and will meet a minimum of three times. The FAC members will also be called upon to review the Financial Audit from December 2011 January 2012.

“This is a great opportunity for residents in Lehigh Acres to get involved in local government and be able to make a difference,” said Brenda Fallon, ECWCD comptroller.

The District will accept applications until April 6 for consideration. Members of the Committee must be residents of Lehigh Acres and least 18 years of age at the time of their appointment. No member of the committee may be a commissioner of the Board or an employee of ECWCD.

Membership on the Committee is voluntary. Committee members shall not receive compensation for their service or expense reimbursement. Applications will be reviewed and voted on at the April 18 board meeting.
