Fashion Show: These are members of the General Woman’s Club of Lehigh who will show off some of the newest spring fashions in April when the club holds its annual Fashion Show and Luncheon. The women are from left to right, Nancy Bragg, Marjorie Hill, Daphne Hopkinson, Laura Barney, Linda Antkiewecz, and Patty Long. Tickets sell fast and are now for sale to both members and other women in the community.

The Lehigh Acres General Woman’s Club today said that tickets are available for their April 9 Fashion Show and Luncheon to be held at the Colonial Country Club from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Fashion Show and Luncheon has become one of the organization’s more important events each year with close to 150 women or more usually attending. Proceeds from the event go to scholarships for single parents in Lehigh who are attending a local college or technical school, said Reba Money, who is spearheading the fashion show.

Five local women have agreed to show off the latest spring fashions which are being provided by Belks of Fort Myers.

“They’re going to show what’s in and what is trendy for spring,” Money said.

The models include Nancy Bragg, Marjorie Hill, Daphne Hopkinson, Laura Barney, Linda Antkiewecz and Patty Long.

They will walk around the tables showing the women some of the latest trends in fashion on that Saturday morning.

“Tickets do go fast so we are announcing the show now. Those who want to purchase tickets should call Mary Beck at 368-6076. The Fashion Show and Luncheon is not only open to General Woman’s Club members, but to the public as well.

“We won’t be able to sell tickets at the door,” Money said. “We have to have a number for the country club to plan for.”

If you want to reserve a table for your group, you should call now for tickets, she said.

The cost of tickets is $20 per person and that includes both the luncheon and the fashion show. Marilyn Wallin is chairman of the luncheon.

“We are also going to be selling raffle tickets to the Dover Resort in Delray Beach. They will be $5 each with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the proposed Volunteers in Medicine project, a clinic planned for Lehigh for the uninsured and underinsured.

Money said money from the ticket sales will go toward the $500 scholarships that will be handed out.

The General Woman’s Club is one of the older organizations in Lehigh and it holds other events such as a Bakeless Bake Sale, a Silent Auction, a Christmas Holiday Ball and other events. The club helps different charities in Lehigh Acres.

Last year, Money said, the club donated proceeds to supply a room at the new Hope Hospice House on Wings Way in Lehigh. President of the club is Sue Thompson, who has agreed to be president for a second year. The club has been giving scholarships for years.
