Shirlene E. Nolde

Shirlene Eleanor Nolde (nee Lindquist), 83, of Lehigh Acres since 1969 and formerly of Chicago, Ill., died peacefully at Hope Hospice Lehigh Acres on March 15, 2011 after an extended illness.

She was born July 19, 1927 in Chicago, Ill., to the late Oscar and Ella Lindquist.

She was the wife of the late Donald A. Nolde Sr. and mother of four sons and two daughters, Donald A. (Toni) Nolde Jr., of Aurora, Ill, Karen A. (John) Boardman of Lehigh Acres, Jack E. Nolde of Charlottesville, Va., Richard A. Nolde of Lehigh Acres, the late Fred E. Nolde of Lehigh Acres, and Sharon E. Nolde of San Diego, Calif.

She is also survived by six grandchildren, Angela (Tim) Hauert, Tammi Nolde, Donald Nolde, John (Christina) Boardman, Kristin (Jeff) Rice and Dr. Kimberly (Aaron) Meles and four great-grandchildren, Kinsey, Jared, Camden and Katia.

A lifelong ham radio operator (call sign K4DRB), she held a General Class license.

She was retired from the Lee County School system(media group).

She was a former senior regent for the Lehigh Ladies of the Moose Lodge #1324 and a member of the Lehigh Kiwanis Club and longtime volunteer at the Kiwanis Thrift Store on Homestead Rd.

She enjoyed playing Bingo and rarely missed a call at the Lehigh Acres Citizen Senior Center and St. Raphael’s Church, to name just a few.

A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
