Prep Report: Knights hold off Seahawks

Jasmine Santiago had two hits and scored the game-winning run in the top of the seventh inning Thursday night as North Fort Myers edged Cape Coral 5-4.

The Red Knights never trailed in the game, breaking out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning and padded that to 4-1 in the fifth.

The Seahawks battled back with a run in the fifth and two in the sixth to tie the game at 4-4.

Liz Hernandez and Katrissa Rowell came through with RBI singles to lead the Red Knights. Darienne Boyden picked up the win on the mound.

The Red Knights (8-3) host Mariner Friday. The Seahawks (6-10) play at Fort Myers Tuesday.

Ida Baker 16, Dunbar 0: Katie Rieser delivered four base hits, including a double and a home run, and drove in five runs to lead Ida Baker’s 20-hit attack in a lopsided victory.

Hanna Kelly drove in three runs with three hits, including two doubles and a home run. Shanelly Brown, Louie Ross and Deniece Bent contributed three hits and an RBI each.

The Bulldogs racked up eight runs in each of the first two innings to put the game away early.

The Bulldogs (10-0) host Estero Tuesday.

Girls Lacrosse

Cape Coral 13, Riverdale 12: Joanna Russell led Cape Coral to victory by scoring eight goals.

Chloe Hutchins added two goals while Alana de Panfilis, Sam Fox and Alex Matos each added one goal. Goalie Angel Gearhart made 13 saves.

The Seahawks play at Cypress Lake Tuesday.
