One person killed in Estero crash
Four people were involved with one pronounced dead in a crash in Estero on Thursday, March 24, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office today.
Deputies responded at around 2:16 a.m. to West Bay Blvd. and Marsh Turtle Trail after they had been told there was a single vehicle accident in the West Bay community.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered that a vehicle with four occupants had crashed into a tree. One of the passengers was pronounced dead on the scene and a second passenger was flown to an area hospital.
The driver and a third passenger were not injured.
Traffic homicide detectives are continuing the investigation. An Update: The deceased has been identified as Ryan Gilhooly, 29. He was visiting from Ohio.
The driver has been identified as Danielle N. Bowman, 29, of 20257 Royal Villagio Court #201, Estero. She was charged with one count of DUI manslaughter, one count of DUI involving serious bodily injury and one count of DUI.
