Lawn equipment, tools stolen from county ballpark
Nearly $10,000 worth of lawn equipment and tools were reported stolen from a Lee County ballpark.
On Monday, Cape Coral police responded to a reported burglary at Hancock Ballpark, at 2211 Hancock Bridge Parkway. According to a police report, the park supervisor arrived at about 6:15 a.m. and found an onsite garage open.
The open garage door had three small pry marks and a piece of rebar was found in front of it. The rebar reportedly was used to force the door open.
The missing items included a utility vehicle, combination weedeater and blower, three weedeaters, a chain saw, combination leaf blower and vacuum, turf edger, two backpack leaf blowers, bolt cutters, S hook cutters, three pairs of tree cutters and an irrigation attachment.
The items are valued at about $9,990 total, according to the report.
The damage to the garage is estimated at $500.
The park supervisor told police that he locked up at about 3 p.m. Sunday.
Hancock Ballpark is owned by Lee County.
