Lehigh Expo set April 8 at Microtel

The Lehigh Lifestyles After 50 Expo will be held Friday, April 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Microtel Inn at 1320 Business Way in Lehigh.

Music will be provided all day by the Beach Bum. There will be free health screenings, blood pressure checks, cholesterol checks and more. Admission is free.

A free lunch will be provided for 100 lucky people who attend. There will thousands of dollars in prizes offered, according to promoters. You are urged to bring your gently used clothes, furniture or toys and drop them off at the Goodwill truck on the site. For more information call 369-2121.

Classes in clay planned at Veterans Park Center

Learn to work with clay at a new program at Veterans Park Recreation Center at 55 Homestead Rd. Classes start April 7 with four weeks of sessions. For youths, the classes are on Thursdays from 3:30 to 4 p.m. with a registration fee of $30.

For adults, classes are Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m. with a registration fee of $45. Supplies are $25 and are paid to the instructor.

Elks to hold Spring Dinner and Dance

A “Spring is in the Air Dinner Dance” will be held on Saturday, April 9 at the Lehigh Acres Elks Lodge 2602 at 1050 Joel Blvd. Cocktails at 6 p.m. and dinner will be at 7 p.m. The menu includes roast beef. Music is by Jerry Wand.

Tickets in advance are $16 and at the door, $18. Call Barbara Guido at 776-2497 for tickets.

Women’s Club to hold luncheon, fashion show

The Lehigh Acres General Women’s Club is holding a fashion show and luncheon with scholarship presentations on April 9 at the Colonial Country Club from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Models will show the latest spring fashions, compliments of Belks of Fort Myers. The luncheon and fashion show are open to the public.

Five Lehigh women, who are models, are Nancy Bragg, Marjorie Hill, Daphne Hopkinson, Laura Barney, Linda Antkiewecz and Patty Long.

Members, guest invited to Hold’em Tourney at Legion

A Texas Poker Hold’em Tournament will be held April 9 at noon at the American Legion Post 323 at 1124 Ashlar Ave. in Lehigh. It is not open to the public, but only to members and their guests.

Pasta Night returns to the Elks on April 112

The Elks Lodge 2602 at 1050 Lee Blvd. will bring back Chef Giusseppee to prepare his Pasta Night dinner. The date is Tuesday, April 12 with dinner being served from 5 to 7 p.m. The menu includes baked ziti for $.775 or chicken parmesan with ziti for $8.75.

Easter Dinner at Legion for member, guests only

An Easter Dinner is planned for members and their guests only at the American Legion Post 323 on April 24 from 1 to 4 p.m. Price is $8 for adults. The public will not be admitted.

Ethnic Easter Bake Sale is April 16

All Saints Byzantine Catholic Church at 10291 Bayshore Rd. in North Fort Myers will hold its annual Ethnic Easter Bake Sale on Saturday, April 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Featured will be traditional Easter bread, egg and raisin, Pirohi, nut and poppy seed rolls, Slovak Kifli, nut and apricot horns and various assorted breads and cooked stuffed cabbage.

The church is off of Exit 143 on I-75 going toward the Lee Civic Center. Mariann Gaydos is chairman of the All Saints Guild, sponsors of the bake sale.

Coast Guard Flotilla to teach boat safety

Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 94 will offer a one-day boating safety

course from 9 a. m. to 5 p. m. on Saturday April 16 at the Veterans Park

Recreation Center in Lehigh Acres, according to Frank L. Fortney, Flotilla vide commander. The cost is $35 per person and all materials are provided. It covers state and federal boating regulations, Homeland Security, and much more. The course is National Association of Safe Boating Law Administration approved. Next Lands Codes meeting changed for April 9

The next Lehigh Acres Community Plan Workshop is scheduled for Saturday, April 9 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the East County Regional Library, 881 Gunnery Road in Lehigh.

This date is different from what was discussed at the February 26 workshop, but due to concerns expressed of that date being too close to the Easter holiday, staff changed it to April 9, said Janet Miller, an administrative assistant

Students can do community service in cleanups

Residents and students can show pride in their community of Lehigh Acres by participating in the following neighborhood beautification projects.

Community service hours are available on April 30, from 8:30 to 11 a.m., March 21, 8:30 to 11 a.m.

Scholarship forms are at LRMC’s front desk

The Lehigh Regional Medical Center’s hospital auxiliary is making available the information needed to apply for scholarship programs.

The applications are available at the front desk at the hospital on Homestead Rd. The closing date for applying for scholarships is April 23, said Leanore King of the auxiliary.
