Homeowner reports theft of $23,000 in jewelry

More than $23,000 worth of jewelry was reported stolen Tuesday from a home in southeast Cape Coral.
A man told police that several pieces were missing from two dressers at a home in the 4500 block of Southeast Fifth Place. According to a report, the front door was left unlocked for a couple hours while he went to the store.
The items included a diamond nugget men’s ring with diamonds, a men’s diamond wedding ring, a gold chain with a Taurus, a woman’s “G” necklace diamond with a chain and a diamond earring set.
Also taken was a $10 roll of quarters, according to the report.
The jewelry has an estimated valued of $23,500 total.
Police reported that no other items were missing from the home, including two digital cameras that had been sitting on top of the dresser at the time.
