Publix Charities supports Habitat for Humanity

By Staff | Apr 8, 2011

To The Editor:

The Publix Super Markets Charities continues its outstanding tradition of support for the mission of Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry counties. On March 27, 2011, Habitat for Humanity received a grant for $50,000. These funds will sponsor a home for a partnering family in our community.

Publix Super Markets Charities was established by George Jenkins to improve life in our communities,” said Shannon Patten, media and community relations manager for Publix. “Habitat for Humanity of Lee County exemplifies that mission, and we are proud to play a part in their efforts.” The Publix Super Markets Charities is based in Lakeland, Florida and it supports Habitat affiliates throughout their five-state market through a grant process. They have supported Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry counties since 1996, and have granted our affiliate a total of a half million dollars. With these funds, Habitat for Humanity has served 11 families.

Habitat is very appreciative of the hand up that Publix Super Markets Charities has provided to local families.
