Law enforcement running to benefit Special Olympics Florida

Approximately 100 members of law enforcement and other first responder agencies began their 26th annual Law Enforcement Torch Run this Friday morning.

It began at 8 a.m. at Lee County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters at 14750 Six Mile Cypress Parkway. The run took participants north along U.S. 41 for approximately 10 miles to the finish line at the Big Lots parking lot at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Pondella Road in North Fort Myers.

Lee County is one of 67 counties in Florida taking part in the annual torch run. Representatives from the following agencies were expected to participate in the event – Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Myers Police Department, Cape Coral Police Department, Sanibel Police Department, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Florida Highway Patrol, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Lee County Port Authority Police and Lee County Parks and Recreation.
