William Aubrey

William (Bill) Aubrey Purks, 93, of Lehigh Acres, died on April 12, 2011.

Born in King George, Va., on Oct 11, 1917, he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a welder by trade.

In 1967 he and his wife moved to Lehigh Acres. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Lehigh Acres, where he served by cutting the church’s grass for nine years having to retire from that position at the young age of 92.

He is survived by his son Dennis W Purks, daughter-in-law Dee Purks, three grandchildren, Matthew J Purks, Katie S. Colburn, Dennis W Purks Jr, and eight great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife Goldie and his daughter Diane M Mason.

A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Lehigh Acres, Friday, April 22 at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to Hope Hospice. Arrangements handled by Lee Memorial Park Funeral Home.
