Owls shut out Eagles 4-0
KENNESAW, Ga. A complete game six-hit shutout by Kennesaw State senior Bryan Blough and a three-run fifth inning were all the Owls needed to even the weekend series with the FGCU Eagles with a 4-0 win Saturday.
One night after setting the program’s Division I record with 26 hits and equaling the record of 20 runs scored, the Eagles were limited to just six hits.
Besides the three-run fifth, the Eagles (18-17, 9-8 A-Sun) limiting the Owls to just five hits. Junior Jacob Barnes tossed the first 4 2/3 innings. Barnes struck out seven batters over the first four innings and got the first two outs in the fifth before running into trouble.

FGCU created a chance to climb back into the game in the top of the sixth, but freshman Brandon Bednar was left on base after a leadoff double, his second hit of the game.
In the ninth, back-to-back two-out singles by junior Javi Sujo and sophomore Mike Reeves provided no runs as the Eagles were shutout for the first time in 60 games.
Barnes (1-3) was credited with the loss after giving up three runs on two hits and four walks. Junior Jason Forjet tossed 2 1/3 innings in relief, giving up one run and striking out two. Freshman Ricky Knapp struck out the side in the eighth.
