By Staff | Apr 23, 2011

The Southwest Florida Goodwill Foundation has received a $5,000 donation from SunTrust Bank. Vice President Heidi Colgate-Tamblyn and Nick Ayotte presented a ceremonial check to the foundation at Goodwill’s North Fort Myers headquarters.

SunTrust has a bank in Lehigh Acres on Homestead Rd.

The Southwest Florida Goodwill Foundation works in coordination with Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida. The foundation sets aside funds to ensure the long-term vision of Goodwill’s mission of providing programs and services for people with disabilities and other disadvantages in the community.

“This gift will help us to continue expanding the services we offer to Southwest Florida,” said Carolyn Johnson, Goodwill’s vice president of development.

“Last year, Goodwill helped more than 16,000 people become more self-sufficient, and our foundation ensures that funding for these programs will be available for many years to come.”

According to Colgate-Tamblyn, the donation is part of the SunTrust’s commitment to the community.

“SunTrust’s mission of helping people and institutions prosper is clear,” she said. “Our teammates bring this brand promise to life in many ways.”

Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida serves five counties including Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry, and Glades.

In these communities, The Southwest Florida Goodwill Foundation will provide additional support for Goodwill programs including youth services, education, mentoring, family strengthening initiatives, occupational skills training, workforce readiness, and the overall mission of Goodwill.
