Miracle outslug Stone Crabs, 12-10

With two big innings of offense, the Fort Myers Miracle posted a 12-10 victory Tuesday night over the Charlotte Stone Crabs at Hammond Stadium.

Trailing 6-1, the Miracle scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take their first lead of the game. Miracle catcher Chris Herrmann delivered a two-run single with the bases loaded followed by a two-run double into deep center by Anderson Hidalgo. Steve Liddle added an RBI hit to take a 7-6 lead.

After the Stone Crabs regained the lead in the top of the seventh, the Miracle exploded in the bottom of the inning for five runs off of reliever Deivis Maravez to take a 12-9 lead into the eighth inning.

Miracle reliever Jhon Garcia surrendered a run in the eighth, but Dakota Watts picked up his fourth save by closing the game in the ninth. Watts allowed two base runners, but retired Brett Nommensen on a ground ball to short.

Seven Miracle batters picked up at least one RBI with Nick Romero, Herrmann and Hidalgo tallying multiple RBI. Herrmann finished 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBI and two runs scored. Second baseman James Beresford went 2-for-5 and scored two runs while driving in another.

Garcia (2-0) earned the win with two innings of duty, surrendering six hits and three runs. Brad Stillings started and gutted out five innings while allowing 10 hits, six runs and striking out four.

The Miracle (11-8) travel to Palm Beach (5-14) Wednesday to start a three-game series in Jupiter.
