To The Editor:

The sacred cow of the Republican Party is “tax cuts for the rich.”

They will cut education for your children, slash programs for the poor among us, to keep these benefits for the top one percent of wealthiest Americans.

Here’s a history of top tax brackets rates:

– 79 percent Roosevelt, Democrat

– 91 percent, Eisenhower, Republican

– 50 percent Reagan, Republican

– 39 percent Clinton, Democrat

– 35 percent George W. Bush, Republican

– 35 percent Obama, Democrat

Yet the U.S. House with all its energies devoted to deficit reduction, does not consider increasing income by raising these rates, Why won’t they?

Our economy and jobs are the highest priority in today’s world. Stop political posturing for 2012 and get the job done that the voters who elected you to do!

There is no revenue source to pay for two wars.

Clinton not only did not run a deficit but gained a substantial surplus which Bush eliminated with his tax cuts for the rich and his wars.
