Volunteers invited Saturday for Cedarwood re-landscaping

By Staff | May 4, 2011

Volunteers from a Lehigh Acres community will gather this weekend to continue a 10-year tradition of “clean.” On Saturday, May 7, at 8 a.m., volunteers from the Cedarwood Community will re-landscape the front island of Woodward Blvd. (off Beth Stacey Boulevard).

The property, owned by Lee County government, was adopted by members of Cedarwood Community in 2001. The Cedarwood Community is located in the Lehigh Acres Initiative Program area and this year received a matching grant from the Department of Transportation to make the area a cleaner place.

Volunteers not only maintain Woodward Blvd. by mowing, edging and weeding, but have also adopted Beth Stacey Boulevard from Homestead Rd. to 23rd Street Southwest.

“We would like to thank the Board of County Commissioners and the Department of Transportation for approving this grant,” said Michele Dormann, president of Cedarwood Community Association.

“We are also grateful to Sheriff Scott and the members of Bravo District for their efforts to make our communities safer.”
