Miracle rally in 9th for 4-3 win

By Staff | May 7, 2011

Fort Myers Miracle fans left Hammond Stadium Friday night with a sense of deja vu after the Miracle capped a fourth consecutive comeback victory 4-3 on a walk-off hit in 10 innings over the Jupiter Hammerheads.

Ramon Santana played the hero by knocking in the game-tying and game-winning runs in the eighth and 10th innings. Anderson Hidalgo led off the final inning with a single on a first-pitch fastball from Hammerheads reliever Kris Harvey.

Santana laced a fastball into the gap in left center field and Hidalgo slid home safely. The Miracle dugout erupted and mobbed Santana in the infield for the celebration.

The Miracle celebrated a walk-off win in the ninth inning Thursday night against Palm Beach.

They allowed an opponent to score first for the fourth consecutive game and 17th time this season. Remarkably, manager Jake Mauer’s club has a 12-5 record in those games.

Solo home runs by Kyle Jensen and Jeff Dominguez put the Hammerheads in the lead early.

The Miracle (18-11) sit just one game behind Florida State League South Division leading St. Lucie and wrap up a five-game homestand at Hammond Stadium at 6:05 p.m. Saturday.
