Hudson Boyd pitched a complete-game three-hitter with 12 strikeouts to help lead Bishop Verot to a 7-3 victory over Bradenton Southeast Friday night in the Region 3A-3 semifinal baseball playoffs.

Boyd (10-0) got offensive support from Dan Vogelbach and Zack Haefeli, who had two extra-base hits apiece.

Vogelbach slugged a two-run homer in the first inning to stake the Vikings to a 2-0 lead. Haefeli hit a solo homer in the fifth inning to make it 5-2 at the time.

The Vikings (25-4) will host the regional final next Friday.

In the Region 4A-3 semifinal Friday night, Estero got past Barron Collier 6-4 and will host the regional final game next Friday.

Track & Field

Class 3A State Meet: Jokira Jiles of Cape Coral placed second in two events at the state meet Friday in Winter Park.

Jiles ran the 100-meter dash in 11.88 seconds, just .21 seconds behind the race champion. She also ran the 200 in 24.26 seconds, .31 seconds off the winning pace.
