Riverdale High School FBLA wins at state leadership conference

By Staff | May 12, 2011

Thanks to their performance at the state competition, three Riverdale High School students will represent Florida at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference this summer.

Brianna Bell and Conor Campobasso won First Place in the Digital Design & Promotion team event at the state FBLA competition. Conor also designed the club’s new shirts and Brianna recently placed second in the STEM Florida Poster Contest. Tabitha Parker, who has been participating in FBLA since middle school, won First Place in FBLA Principles and Procedures.

Some 30 Riverdale High students joined more than 3,300 of their fellow students who attended the recent FBLA event in Orlando. Riverdale High was also recognized at the state level as a Gold Seal Chapter of Excellence.

Other Riverdale High students who placed at the state event were: Ramon Iglesias and Victor Bermudez, taking Fourth Place in Computer Game and Simulation Programming; Jamin Weeks and Lexie Moff, who placed Fifth in Business Ethics; Ryan White, Ashley Rodriguez and Diane Celestin, capturing Fifth Place in Entrepreneurship; and Tamber Miller who took Fifth Place in Electronic Career Portfolio.

The Riverdale High Chapter raised $10,000 to attend this conference, but the work continues as the Chapter needs to raise and additional $5,000 to attend the National Competition. Anyone in the community who would like to help is urged to contact Ileane Flores or Frank Palaia at Riverdale High for sponsorship opportunities to help students attend. The number to call is 239-694-4141.
