Norma J. Curtis

Norma Jean Curtis, 84, of Lehigh Acres, died on May 12, 2011 of congestive heart failure. She touched the lives of many people as the manager of a medical office in Wichita, Kan. Following retirement, she and her mother moved to Florida to be with her son and family.

In Lehigh Acres, she worked in customer relations at Walmart, retiring in March 2009.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Curtis; mother, Beulah Decker, step-father Millard Decker, and cousin, Mary Jane Mercurio.

Curtis is survived by her son, Richard Curtis and his wife Joyce, of Lehigh Acres; two grandsons, Benjamin of Tampa, and Matthew of Spring Hill, Fla.; great-grandson Matthew II, great-granddaughter Jocelyn Lawson and great-grandson Mickey Lawson; and cousins Juanita Suttle and Sandy Suttle-Hughes and husband, Phillip Hughes of Wichita, Kan.

Curtis was born February 17, 1927, in Hoisington, Kan. She was raised and attended high school in Wichita, Kan., where she met her husband of 30 years.

Her family said her greatest joy was her family. She devoted the later years of her life to the unwavering care of her mother. She enjoyed sports, bingo, bowling, and laughter. Her laughter and smile will be forever remembered, they said.

A memorial service will be held Monday, May 16, 2011, at 4 p.m. at at Farley Memorial Funeral Home, 1100 Lee Blvd., Lehigh Acres.
