TALLAHASSEE – The Florida Highway Patrol now has 39 new state troopers to join its ranks as the 120th Basic Recruit Class graduated from the FHP’s Law Enforcement Training Academy today. The graduation ceremony marks the conclusion of an intensive 27-week training period that prepares them for a career as a Florida State Trooper and instills the FHP’s core values of courtesy, service and protection.
Among the graduates is Andrew Cambria from Fort Myers, Luuis Navarro of Naples and Nelson Tineo of Clewiston. All three have been assigned to Troop F.
During her remarks, Julie Jones, executive dDirector of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, congratulated the graduates for their incredible accomplishment.
“The presence of 39 additional troopers will benefit millions of motorists,” she added. “You have shown great dedication and commitment by choosing a profession in public safety, and we are proud that you chose to become a Florida State Trooper.”
During the commencement ceremony, the FHP honored Recruit James Mulhern with the Executive Director’s award for achieving the highest grade point average at the Academy. The patrol also presented the Director’s award, honoring the recruit demonstrating extraordinary courtesy and dedication during the training, to Recruit Javiel Gonzalez.
Florida’s newest state troopers from the 120th class will report for duty by June 3, 2011.
