Peter Ooms

Peter Ooms, 76, of Lehigh Acres, died on April 12, 2011. He was born in Ridgefield Park, N.J. His parents were Peter and Adele Fleshe Ooms. He was born December 17, 1934.

He retired from J. Fletcher Creamer Construction Corp. and was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local 560 and was a Ridgefield Park volunteer fireman and a member of Truck Co. 2. He played Santa Claus at the game rooms in Lehigh, including at least one that is no longer open, Vegas, Jackpot Junction and Lucky Horseshoe. He also enjooyed fishing and inventing. He was interested in antique cars and had a small collection of them.

He is survived by his sons, Peter W. Ooms and his wife, Doreen, Thomas and his wife Maureen and Patricia Eckler and husband Victor; grandchildren, Victor, Annette, Katrina, Rebecca, Thomas, Mitchell, Nicole, Sarah and Brian and great-grandchild, Victor. He is also survived by a sister, Marion Scanell of Lehigh.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Adelle Ooms, and a sister Doris Messmer.

There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. on May 28 at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 SR 82, Fort Myers.
