The Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce honored several teachers Saturday night, May 21 at the Microtel Inn & Suites at 1320 Business Way in Lehigh.

The Teacher Awards Dinner was dedicated to Lehigh Acres educators, said Inke Baker, the Chamber’s assistant director.

Teachers were selected by their principals and peers.

The Lehigh Acres Chamber Foundation hosting the Annual Celebration of Education, better known as the Teacher Awards Dinner. This year, two acclaimed speakers from Florida Gulf Coast University and Edison State College spoke about “It’s never too late to learn something new.”

A few years back, teachers were honored each month at the luncheon but it became difficult for many teachers to leave school, so the educational committee decided to dedicate a night to honor them annually.
