Alvin S. Reaves

Alvin Stephen Reaves, 79, of Lehigh Acres, died May 24, 2011.

Born on December 24, 1931 in Fort Pierce, Fla., Reaves was the youngest son of Irvin and Onnie (Burnam) Reaves. He had one brother, Herbert, who preceded him in death.

Reaves was a member of the U.S. Navy. As an avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed training bird dogs and competitive shooting throughout the years. He was an active member of Quail Unlimited and a member of the NRA. Reaves enjoyed many years as an amateur radio operator, as did his father, brother, and son, and was a member of the Fort Myers Amateur Radio Club and the Gulf Coast Area Repeater Club.

He retired from the family business, Reaves and Sons Inc., devoting his time to his lifelong interests as a Florida Gator fan, Nascar fan, and sportsman.

He is survived by his wife, Jennie Reaves; son, Stephen “Scott” (Lorrie) Reaves, grandson, Garrett Reaves, step granddaughters, Celina Rodriguez and Elizabeth (Brett) Andringa, and great grandchildren, Quinten, Brayden, and Carly.

A celebration of life service will be on Saturday, May 28, 2011 from 4 to 5 p.m. at Gendron Funeral & Cremation Services Inc.
