The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Stacy Rene Bibens (Giroux) and charged here with one felony count of fraud – using another person’s ID, two felony counts of illegal use of credit cards and one felony count of larceny/theft. Her most recent address is listed as 1519 Canal Place, Lehigh Acres.

Authorities said on Tuesday, May 17 that deputies responded to a house located at 1517 Canal Place, Lehigh Acres, in reference to a grand theft.

Upon arrival, deputies met the victim who lives at the residence, identified as Marie Bradley, 90. Bradley told deputies her neighbor, identified as the suspect, Stacy Bibens, 35, also known as Stacy Giroux, has come into her home on several occasions. The victim had befriended Giroux, but now believed Giroux was responsible for more unauthorized transactions from Bradley’s checking account.

The Economic Crimes Unit assumed the investigation which revealed that the victim’s credit card had been used without her permission. When asked by detectives why the victim believes Giroux was the suspect, the victim explained she was familiar with the suspect’s financial status. She also knew about a child custody issue the suspect was dealing with that resulted in the suspect hiring an attorney, investigators said.

Detectives met with the Giroux’s attorneys and learned of two transactions, totaling more than $4,600, paid for with Bradley’s credit card. At the time of the transaction, Giroux told the firm her “godmother” would pay the bill on her behalf.

However, investigators said Bradley never had knowledge of, or granted permission for, these payments. At the same time of these transactions, a person claiming to be Bradley called to verbally grant permission for the payment.

Giroux’s attorneys doubted the veracity of this individual claiming to be Bradley, authorities said. When they learned it wasn’t Bradley, and that her credit card had been fraudulently used, they withdrew as counsel for Stacy Bibens (Giroux) and reported the incident to the Florida Bar. Bradley’s money was then refunded.

A criminal history check for Stacy Bibens (Giroux) revealed she was convicted of organized fraud, less than $20,000 in Marion County in 2005.

This charge resulted in a prison sentence of one year and six months, authorities said.

On May 26, 2011, Giroux was arrested and transported to the Lee County Jail.
