A Cape Coral man was killed early Sunday morning when he was struck by a semi-truck on I-75 in Charlotte County.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, at about 3:05 a.m. Sunday, Anthony J. Panzera, 35, of Cape Coral, was walking across the southbound, outside lane of I-75 at the 163 mile maker, when he was struck by a semi driven by Darryl L. O’Neal, 45, of Lakeland, Fla.
The report states that although O’Neal attempted to steer left and avoid Panzera, the pedestrian continued to walk east across the roadway, directly into the path of the semi.
No charges have been filed.
