The Lee County Sheriff’s Office today said that on Saturday, May 28, at around 2:40 p.m., a Lee County inmate was discovered unresponsive in his single cell at the Lee County Jail, Ortiz Site located at 2501 Ortiz Avenue.

The inmate was identified as Jeffrey Moore, 35, of 414 Miramar Road, Fort Myers.

Medical personnel from the jail immediately responded and began CPR until EMS arrived and continued life saving measures, Sheriff’s officials said. Despite all efforts, the inmate died.

The incident is being ruled a suicide.

The manner of death is not being disclosed at this time as the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit continues its investigation.
