Trio represent Miracle on FSL All-Star team
Catcher Danny Rams and infielder Brian Dozier were selected to represent the Fort Myers Miracle on the South team for the 50th Florida State League All-Star Game June 18 in Clearwater.
Miracle pitcher Bruce Pugh also was selected, but recently was promoted to Double-A and will not participate in the game.
Florida State League President Chuck Murphy announced the rosters Thursday.
Dozier’s selection follows his spot on the league’s 2010 Post-season All-Star team. He is hitting a team-high .320 with a home run and 18 RBI. An eighth-round selection by the Minnesota Twins in the 2009 draft is a career .303 hitter in three professional seasons.
Rams has helped the Miracle remain near the top of the South Division standings with his bat. The Miami product was a second-round draft pick in 2007 and is hitting .278 with four home runs and 18 RBI. His four home runs are tied for the team lead.
Pugh recorded nine saves in 16 appearances, before his promotion on May 29.
Twenty-two Miracle players have been named All-Stars in the last four years, including a record eight in 2009.
The first-place St. Lucie Mets placed a division-high six players on the South squad followed by five from Bradenton, four each from Charlotte and Jupiter, and two representing Palm Beach.
The North squad has six players from Dunedin, five from Daytona, four each from Lakeland and Clearwater, and three from Brevard County.
All-Star players, coaches and umpires will be honored at events during All-Star weekend.
First pitch is 7:05 p.m. for the game at Bright House Field, home of the Clearwater Threshers.
