Herbert C. Gage

Word has been received here of the death of Herbert Charles Gage, 90, who died on April 22, 2011 in Bryson City, N.C. He and his wife, Fearllee, lived in Lehigh Acres for 35 years. He was active in the VFW in Lehigh.

A memorial service was held Sunday, May 22, 2011 in the chapel of the Crisp Funeral Home in Bryson City, N.C.

Gage was born March 29, 1921 in New York. He was a veteran of Foreign Wars serving in the U.S. Army during WWII in Europe receiving the Silver Star and Purple Heart.

He is survived by his wife, Fearllee Rickman Gage; three daughters, Elizabeth Snow of Astonia, Conn., Lee Quigley of Thomaston, Ga., Debbie Brooks of Sylva, N.C.; a son, Jimmy Navin of Robbinsville, N.C.; three step children, Beth Winchester of Bryson City, N.C., Tommy Lee Rickman of Cherokee, N.C., and Charles Rickman of Atlanta, Ga.; 23 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2011 in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Charles Ray Ball will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in care of its St. Jude Tribute Program, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142
