Lee County Public Schools are participating in the Summer Food Service Program during June and July.

Nutritionally balanced meals will be provided to all children regardless of race, color, sex, disability, age, or national origin during summer vacation when school breakfasts and lunches are not available, Lee County school officials said.

In Lehigh Acres, meals will be offered at East Lee County High School, Lehigh Elementary, Veterans Park Academy for the Arts, G. Weaver Hipps Elementary Lehigh Senior, Harns Marsh Elementary and Assembly Iglesia Christiana. The schools offer a breakfast and lunch or in some cases, just a lunch meal.

In Alva, youngsters can get a meal at the Alva Park and Recreation Center.

All youngsters 18 years old and younger, if it’s an open site, are eligible for meals at no charge and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. The programs are only approved for geographical areas of need where 50 percent or more of the children qualify for free and reduced price meals during the school year. The District has nearly a 70 percent participation rate.

Summer Food Services program sites that are located at schools provide meals to all children in the immediate vicinity in addition to those enrolled in summer school, officials said.

To see the sites, click on the PDF link which will provide information from all the schools in Lee County, including Lehigh Acres. It will list whether the meal is a breakfast only or a lunch only or a combination of both, and the address of the sites.
