A Fort Myers man was killed Tuesday night in a two-vehicle crash in Lehigh Acres.

Truman Costello, 61, was driving a 2002 Ford F-150 pickup east on SR82 when it drifted into westbound traffic and struck a 2001 Ford Expedition sport utility vehicle head-on about 7:20 p.m. near Alabama Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Costello was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Expedition, William Hawkins, 20, of Lehigh Acres, was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with critical injuries. He was not wearing a seatbelt, FHP reports.

No passengers were in either vehicle.

The crash followed a rainstorm, but troopers say the official cause of the crash is still under investigation.
