Elizabeth Opthof Underhill

Elizabeth Opthof Underhill, 89, of Lehigh Acres, was born oct. 11, 1921 in Passaic, N.J. She died on June 20, 2011

She was predeceased by husbands Henry W. Op’t Hof and Herbert S. Underhill, siblings James and Paul Vander Vliet, sister Ethel Mae Battias, and daughter Judith Elizabeth Op’t Hof.

She is survived by her sons, Russell, Ronald and Raymond Op’t Hof, and daughters Judith Ellen (Bracken), Barbara (Machewirth), Janet (Allison), Susan (Janulin), and Nancy (Richards).

Underhill was a member of The Eastern Star and was retired from the New Jersey Bell Telephone Co., where she worked as an operator.

She moved to Lehigh Acres in 1978 from Kinnelon, N.J. She was a volunteer at the Lehigh Acres Senior Citizen Center on Plaza Drive and as a greeter at the Lehigh Medical Profession Center, next to Lehigh Regional Medical Center.

A private service of celebration was held at Hope Hospice Chapel.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to Hope Hospice, 1201 Wings Way, Lehigh Acres, FL, 33936.
