LA Edible Gardening Club holds first meeting
The first meeting of the Lehigh Acres Edible Gardening Club will be held Wednesday, July 20 at the East County Regional Library’s meeting room.
Russ Luther from ECHO will be the guest speaker at their first meeting.

They provide subtropical and tropical seed plus education on how to use them to starving nations of the world. At their location in Fort Myers, they have a store that sells seed and a nursery to the public.
Community Plan Workshop is July 9
The next Lehigh Acres Community Plan Workshop is scheduled for Saturday, July 9, from 9:30-11:30 at the East County Regional Library, 881 Gunnery Road North, Lehigh Acres.
American Legion Breakfast
American Legion Post 323, American Legion Aux. 323, American Legion 323 Squadron, American Legion 323 Riders will be starting breakfasts again July 3, from 8:30 a.m. to noon; cooked to order, two eggs, sausage or bacon, potatoes, toast $4. All you can eat Spaghetti Dinner
American Legion 323 Auxiliary will have an all you can eat Spaghetti dinner, garlic bread for $6 on July 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. Juniors will hold bake sale. All proceeds will go to Auxiliary programs. After dinner, you can stay for karaoke with Ronnie D. & Tammy, 7:30 p.m. Open to public, but only members and their guests can purchase alcohol. Any questions, call the Post at 369-3178.
Legion to host first Fish Friday on July 15
The American Legion Post 323 Riders will host its first Fish Fry on Friday, July 15 at 5 p.m.. Dinner will include fish filet, French fries, cole slaw and a roll for $7.
After dinner, you are invited to stay and enjoy karaoke with Ronnie D. and Tammy.
Karaoke begins at 7:30 p.m. The proceeds from the Fish Fry will go to the riders various programs. For more information, call the American Legion Post at 369-3178. The American Legion Post is located on Ashlar Ave., just behind the Burger King which is on Homestead Rd.
Plan for summer camp at the Alva Community Center
Don’t be left without a spot in camp, says Sandra Bates of the Alva Community Center.
“Summer is fast approaching and camps fill early, don’t delay and register today,” she said.
The Traditional Summer Camp at Alva is open to children ages 6 to 13.
Activities include indoor and outdoor games, crafts, swimming, fishing, kayaking, special speakers, nutritional, environmental and fitness, limited field trips and more. Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack are included for $75 per week. Sign up online at: at www.leeparks.org and receive a 10 percent discount.
There will only be 45 participants a week, Bates said.

Fourth of July ceremony planned
An Independence Day ceremony will be held by the American Legion Post 323 on July 4 at 11 a.m. A family pot luck picnic will follow.
Members and the public are invited to attend but alcoholic beverages are served only to members and their guests. The American Legion Post is on Ashlar Ave., just behind the Burger King on Homestead Rd.
