Local softball players named to all state team
A number of local softball players have been recognized on the 2011 Miracle Sports Florida High School All State Softball Teams.
In Class 4A, Maddy Peres, a pitcher, and infielder Alexia Ross of Ida Baker High School were named to the second team.
Two other standouts, Mariner’s Mackenzie Hunt and North Fort Myers Katrissa Rowell earned honorable mention on the squad.
The 2011 Miracle Sports Florida High School All State Teams in classes 4A, 5A and 6A were announced Thursday. The squads in 1A, 2A and 3A were announced Wednesday.
In Class 1A, the Canterbury School’s Jody Moore was named coach of the year and Krissy Longstreet was named Player of the Year.
Making the first team were pitcher Emily Winesett, catcher Krissy Longstreet and infielder Jennifer Crosthwaite, all of Canterbury, along with pitcher Meghan Sullivan of Southwest Florida Christian.
Earning second team nods were catcher Becki Sullivan and infielder Meridith Doerstling of Southwest Florida Christian and outfielder Sarah Fleming of Canterbury.
Receiving honorable mentions were Canterbury catcher Lacy Adams and outfielder Julie Cieutat.
