‘Voice’ of ‘Blades’ moving on
The Florida Everblades announced Friday that broadcaster Kevin Reiter will be leaving the organization after a seven-year stint. His last day will be July 8 before he and his family begin a new chapter in Virginia.
Reiter, who joined the Everblades in 2004, served as the voice of the team for six of his seven seasons with the club. During his six years behind the microphone, the 38-year-old called all 431 of the team’s regular season games and all 61 of the team’s Kelly Cup Playoff games.
“Kevin has been a great representative for the Florida Everblades for the past seven years,” Everblades President Craig Brush said. “As the voice of the Everblades, our fans felt they were listening to an old friend when they tuned into our games. We wish him continued success and miss him already.”
During his time in Southwest Florida, Reiter was selected to broadcast the 2007 ECHL All-Star Game and was named the ECHL’s Broadcaster of the Year for the 2006-07 season.
“I would like to thank everyone at Germain Arena, especially Craig Brush, for a great seven years,” Reiter said. “I would also like to extend a big thanks to all the loyal Everblades fans, many of whom I have come to know personally and call my friends. The support the fans showed was tremendous and they always went out of their way to make me and my family feel at home. Although it is hard to believe this is the end of a long run with the Everblades, my family and I are looking forward to the new phase of our lives!”
