Body discovered in water near Punta Rassa Boat Ramp in Fort Myers
An update: The victim is identified as Philip Schweers, 45, of 11531 Blue Warbler Drive, Fort Myers.
The Lee County Sheriff’s office said that on July 4, at 11:20 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a report of a person floating face down in the water approximately 100 yards west of the Punta Rassa Boat Ramp, 17800 McGregor Boulevard, Fort Myers.
A boat with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission retrieved the body from the water and transported it to the dock. The victim, a white male, approximately 45 years old, was deceased, Sheriff’s officials said.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is investigation the death, which at this time appears to be accidental. The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause of death.
