Smart Deposit: An efficient addition
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has implemented new technology to simplify the way monies can be deposited into inmate “canteen” accounts in the Lee County corrections facilities, according to Sgt. Stephanie Eller, a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office.
In the past, all deposits had to be made by money order which had to be manually entered into canteen accounts by jail personnel. With the new Smart Deposit, money is put directly into inmate accounts by the depositor, thereby eliminating the time-consuming task of manual deposits.
There are three Smart Deposit options available to the public:
– Lobby Kiosks located at the Downtown Maximum Security Jail, the Core Facility on Ortiz Avenue, and the Visitation Building on Ortiz Avenue.
– Via the internet at MyCarePack.com.
– By phone by calling 1-866-394-0490.
Smart Deposit accepts Visa and Master cards. All online credit card transactions are processed through PayPal. In addition to these new options, money orders can still be mailed to the facilities as in the past. Smart Deposit transactions are always secure and compliant for privacy and data security, Eller said.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office continuously strives to promote efficient use of resources by utilizing technology that promotes cost saving measures, she said.
