Thieves steal groceries from young mother and her baby

By Staff | Jul 17, 2011

The groceries were worth a little more than $100 but for a Lehigh Acres mom, they meant the world.

The victim tells Crime Stoppers she had just used badly needed food stamps to buy milk, water, and canned goods to feed her hungry family including an infant son. But the groceries were stolen in broad daylight from the trunk of her car at a Walmart Parking lot in Lehigh Acres.

The young mom says the theft is so upsetting because she already struggles to feed her 9-month- old baby boy. She had just used the food stamps for groceries from Publix, then stopped at Walmart to purchase meat.

When she returned to her car, the Publix bags were gone.

Walmart security video shows two men removing the bags of groceries from the trunk of the victim’s Pontiac Grand Am on Tuesday July 12. The suspects then drove away in a dark-colored, four-door Buick or Chevrolet sedan.

Detectives are hoping someone can identify any or all of the persons depicted in the images as they were together in the store.
