Volunteer training set for UW storm hotline

By Staff | Jul 17, 2011

The United Way 211 Storm Information Hotline will host a volunteer training

on Thursday, July 21, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at United Way of Lee, Hendry and Glades.

This is a partnership between Lee County Emergency Management, Hendry County Emergency Management, Glades County Emergency Management and The United Way of Lee, Hendry and Glades counties. This is an important opportunity to learn how the United Way 211 Storm Information Hotline operates during a natural or man-made disaster and how you can help, United Way officials said.

Presenters will include Lee County Emergency Management’s Chief of Planning Gerald Campbell; Lee County 911 Program Manager, Matt Rechkemmer; United Way 211 Operations Manager, Kelly Guelcher; and United Way Volunteer Center Manager, Kim Berghs. Volunteers are needed who are willing to assist with answering storm related calls. Hours are flexible. Agencies are encouraged to send any willing and interested staff or their friends or family members who would like to volunteer on the hotline. Volunteers must be 18 or older.

You may RSVP by email to crystal@unitedwaylee.org or call her at 239-433-3900 at Extension 252. Refreshments will be served.
