Mentors needed in several local schools

By Staff | Jul 23, 2011

To The Editor:

We are in need of mentors in the Take Stock in Children Program for the 2011-2012 school year. Take Stock in Children is a scholarship program for low-income, at-risk students in the public school system. Students apply for the program in 6th or 9th grade, and upon selection, sign a contract promising to remain crime and drug free, maintain good grades and behavior, and meet with an assigned mentor on a regular basis through high school graduation. Upon graduation, students receive a 4 year college tuition scholarship.
