Miracle shut out again 9-0
CLEARWATER – The Clearwater Threshers opened with seven consecutive hits off Fort Myers Miracle starter Edgar Ibarra, scoring six runs to cruise to a 9-0 victory Friday night.
Ibarra (2-7) did not escape the first, recording just one out in the first 10 batters faced, taking his seventh loss of the year.
The Miracle are 1-5 against the Threshers including their third shutout of the season. The Miracle have managed just five runs in the six games.
Clearwater limited the Miracle to two singles and a walk, and retired the last 13 hitters in a row. No Miracle batter reached base after a two-out single by Josmil Pinto with two outs in the fifth inning.
Threshers starter Brody Colvin pitched three scoreless innings before leaving the game. Tommy Palica (1-0) come on in relief and picked up where Colvin left off, allowing Pinto’s single in five innings to earn the win.
The only other Miracle players to reach base where Steve Liddle, who walked in the second, and Anderson Hidalgo who singled in the third.
Seven Threshers batters had at least two hits in their 18-hit assault on four Miracle pitchers. Six of the nine hitters drove in at least one run.
The Miracle (48-50, 14-14) try to reverse the season trend Saturday against the Threshers (51-46, 12-16).
