Suspect Samer Rashid, 38, of 13201 Little Gem Circle, Lehigh Acres, turned himself in at the Lee County Jail on July 25, Rashid is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.

Two others charged in the incident are Karam Merhi, 21, of 7233 Maida Lane, Apartment 4G, Fort Myers, charged with conspiracy to sell marijuana.

Tyler Mohammed, 22, of 1374 Sirocco Street, Fort Myers, charged with sale and possession of marijuana.

A tip received by Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers has led to the arrest of first two men for selling marijuana out of a Fort Myers apartment. A third turned himself in and has been charged with dealing in marijuana.

The tip stated that many people frequent the apartment (Apartment 4G at 7233 Maida Lane in Fort Myers) all day and never stay very long. The tipster also said some people show up to the apartment holding an empty duffle bag and leave within minutes with their duffle bags full.

Due to the information received, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit set up surveillance at the location. While conducting surveillance of the residence numerous vehicles were seen coming and going, staying for just two to three minutes as the tipster said.

Surveillance led the unit to two individuals responsible for selling marijuana out of the apartment and a search warrant was obtained on that apartment and a second residence where marijuana was being stored, Sheriff’s investigators said.

Located in the garage of the second residence was a brown cardboard box containing nearly five pounds of marijuana. More marijuana was located in the kitchen along with paperwork stating that one of the suspects was living there. This was further verified by a relative of the suspect, Sheriff’s investigators said.

At the Maida Lane residence, detectives found more than 25 grams of marijuana in clear plastic bags in the kitchen. Detectives also located was $3,155 in U.S. currency in suspect Karam Merhi’s bedroom, along with miscellaneous paperwork reflecting drug sales, investigators said.

In all, more than 10 pounds of marijuana was recovered during the investigation.
