Riverdale to host 20th year class reunion
The Riverdale High School Class of 1991 will hold a class reunion from Sept. 16-18. Donations are being asked to help the class celebrate the weekend. More information can be found at their website: www.cattslair.com/RHS91.
Bea Youngs, one of the planners for the reunion said that they expecting at least 80 or more to attend.
“We have recently retired Assistant Principal Steve Adams as our guest speaker,” she said.
Also planned to attend is a former wrestling coach at Riverdale.
Several students may be living in the Lehigh Acres. If you know someone who graduated 20 years ago from Riverdale, get the word out to them, Youngs said.
“We are asking all those who graduated 20 years ago go to the website for all the information and to let us know they are going to attend. All the information is at the website.”
Donations sought for ‘makeovers’
First Choice Haircutters of Lehigh Acres will be doing makeovers on five women who are a part of the organization’s After the Rain. This non-profit organization is a women’s shelter that provides services for women who are recovering from drugs, alcohol or domestic violence abuse, said Tracey M. Glant, manager of first Choice Hair Cutters, which is located at 5781 Lee Blvd., Unit 207.
Glant said they are asking businesses to donate services, gift certificates or money to provide these women with a variety of gifts to go into a gift basket to help them back on their feet. The event takes place on Sept. 15. Staff members who will be taking part in the makeovers are Stephanie Atkins, Brenda Lawrence, Janie Salazar and Regina Sheppard.
Redistricting hearing set Aug. 31 in Lehigh
A legislative redistricting hearing will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 31 at Veterans Park Recreation Center in Lehigh Acres. The session will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Members of the House and Senate will be on hand. Residents are encouraged to attend and tell their legislators how they would like to see Lehigh in the redistricting issue.
