Expect short delays on Daniels Parkway Monday
Beginning Monday, August 8, westbound Daniels Parkway motorists can expect short delays at Westlinks Drive during the school arrival and dismissal times of 6:45-8:45 a.m. and 1:30-4:30 p.m.
The area is not far from where Gunnery Rd. in Lehigh turns into Daniels Parkway.
The eastbound to northbound left-turn lane from Daniels Parkway to Commonwealth Drive will remain temporarily closed through August 12 for crews to complete asphalt work in the turn lane, weather permitting, says Rob Phelan, who is with the Lee County Department of Transportation.
Law enforcement will be onsite to help motorists make a U-Turn at eastbound Daniels Parkway and Westlinks Drive (to access Commonwealth Drive) during school arrival and dismissal, Phelan said. This work is part of Lee County’s Daniels Parkway Widening Project.
Lee County is widening Daniels Parkway from four to six lanes from Chamberlin Parkway to Gateway Boulevard.
This project includes reconstructing the Daniels Parkway and Chamberlin Parkway intersection to create a four way signalized intersection. Phelan asks motorists to drive with care and be aware of heavy equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
