Local UIFL Tarpons sign ex-Cal receiver
The Florida Tarpons, of the Ultimate Indoor Football League, is making a splash with one of their first signings.
Former California receiver Robert Jordan is now a member of the expansion Tarpons, who will play their home games at Germain Arena starting in 2012.
A two-time honorable mention Pac-10 selection, Jordan left school ranked seventh in career receptions (156) and ninth in both receiving yards (2,047) and touchdowns (13).
“We are grateful to have a player like Robert join our franchise,” said Tarpons coach Michael Taylor. “As an expansion organization, we are committed to bringing Fort Myers a championship team.”
Jordan was a non-drafted invitee by the NFL San Francisco 49ers, but requested his release to tend to a personal matter. He also spent time with British Columbia in the Canadian Football League.
