When detectives with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit infiltrated a drug house, they discovered there was plenty of “cooking” going on, but not a lot of “grilling,” according to Tony Schall, a public information spokesman with the Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives arrested Barry White, 24, of 703 Richmond Ave., Lehigh Acres, and charged him with the sale of cocaine, possession of cocaine and trafficking of an opiate or derivative.

Responding to complaints from residents and business owners in the area of Palm Beach Blvd. and Johnson Ave., in Fort Myers, detectives conducted an undercover operation at 416 Johnson Ave.

During the operation, crack cocaine was purchased at the residence on three separate occasions. Field tests showed the cocaine was real which allowed detectives to obtain a search warrant for the residence, Schall said.

On August 26, the search warrant was executed. Inside the house, detectives discovered baggies containing powder and crack cocaine. But the big discovery occurred just outside of the residence, Schall said. Inside a charcoal bag, detectives found 120 Roxicodone pills, 4.5 grams of powder cocaine, 18 grams of crack, but alas, no charcoal, he said.

Also inside the bag were various utensils used to cook down cocaine into crack. The utensils tested positive for cocaine.

Schall said the investigation continues and additional arrests are expected.
