First baseman Michael Sheridan drove in four runs to help the Charlotte Stone Crabs drop the Fort Myers Miracle 5-2 Monday night at Hammond Stadium.

Sheridan delivered the decisive blow in the top of the seventh inning, smashing a 2-2 pitch from Miracle reliever Matt Tone off the wall in right-center field to plate two and break a 2-2 tie.

The Miracle grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning when third baseman Anderson Hidalgo tagged Crabs starter Joe Cruz for a two-run single.

In the fifth inning, Sheridan began his large offense night off Miracle starter B.J. Hermsen. With two outs and runners at first and second, Sheridan hit a chopper just out of the reach of Hermsen that caromed off second baseman Alexi Casilla and into center field to tie the game 2-2.

Tone (2-5) took the loss after giving up the go-ahead runs in the seventh. Hermsen fanned six and stranded eight while giving up a pair of runs on eight hits over six innings.

The Miracle (59-73, 25-38) open a two-game series Tuesday in St. Lucie.
