Prep Report: Cape drops opener, 3-0
High school volleyball season got under way Monday night for the Cape Coral Seahawks in a 3-0 defeat at Port Charlotte.
The Seahawks hung close in the first two games of the match before going down 25-18, 25-18. The Pirates then sealed the victory 25-6 to sweep the best-of-five match.
Katie Upton led the Seahawks with nine assists and three service aces. Kristi Maselter blasted six kills to go with six digs and three blocks. Alison Harper contributed four kills and six digs while Ashley Hunter added two blocks and two aces.
The volleyball season gets going in earnest Tuesday with every Cape school in action. The Seahawks host Ida Baker, Mariner visits Fort Myers, North Fort Myers hosts Island Coast, Bishop Verot travels to Barron Collier and Oasis hosts Port Charlotte Community Christian.
