Just about everything except for retail stores and restaurants are closed on Monday in observance of Labor Day.

But for shoppers, the malls and strip centers are opened everywhere. It’s a big beach day at Fort Myers Beach and beaches on Sanibel and Captiva. Leave early Monday to not get caught up in lines of waiting traffic for the bridge into Fort Myers Beach.

All governmental offices in Lee County are closed on Monday.

There is no mail on Monday and post offices are closed.

Lehigh and others in Lee County won’t see their waste or garbage picked up on their regular days as that service will be postponed for most by one day. All trash will be collected however by Saturday.

Banks are also closed throughout the county.
